It’s that time of year to share the plans for the swim. There are now a little over 6 months until launch, until the hot summer sun is reflecting off the Sea of Cortez onto our faces and I leap into what is now known.
Wow, it is amazing what can transpire in a week. Since the last email so much has happened. Patti Bauernfeind completed her Cook Strait swim in New Zealand in a smoking low 8 hours and that is truly a fast time. Congratulations Patti!
Kieran from the restaurant 1697 in Loreto has offered to host a meet and greet cocktail function before the swim. More details to follow. Besides other significant land support services he also expressed interest in working as a crew member. He owns a brewery, so no doubt he is qualified, well that and all the years he spent sailing off the coast of England help too.
Note the name of the Book came from my friend Jill Alley of Alley Cat, who explained the history of Loreto and how the natives refer to Loreto, Where Mountains Come to Swim. Thank you Jill! Scott Serven the master of modern day miracles and of La Mision Hotel has confirmed he will be there for the Swim.
Save the Date February 27th for the chili feed at hour home in Mill Valley. March 5th won’t work - it’s my kid’s birthday party.
